In 2015, at the age of 86, Geoff was feeling very weak and out of breathe, and worried that his ‘demise not too far ahead’. Soon after he found out that he was suffering from a faulty mitral valve that was leading to regurgitation.
After looking on the internet at possible surgeons, he came across Mr Deshpande and decided that he was the one for him. Geoff decided that he wanted to have minimally invasive surgery rather than open heart surgery as he was worried about how he would recover from a very invasive surgery at his age.
The surgery on his heart went very well, and he was able to return home after just five days at hospital.
Five years later at the age of 91 Geoff is still working and staying active.
